Ascend the summit of wellness, bit by bit.

Hello, there!

I’m Meera, nice to meet ya! I am a lover of all things – calisthenics, baking, traveling, running, playing video games, cake decorating, and writing poetry. My greatest appreciation, however, is living life through the little things – the simple pleasures of toast with jam and a cup of tea, a big warm hug, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee filling the kitchen, soft Christmas lights, and slipping into pajamas after a warm shower.

One may say that I wear rose-coloured glasses majority of the time, but it’s just that I cherish not only the pleasures, but the pain that life offers me. I embrace my past unfortunate experiences that resulted in disappointment and feelings of deep failure because I believe that embedded in each of those events was a valuable lesson to learn (and I love to learn new things, yes I do).

I try to welcome the inevitable like an expected guest (or it’ll just intrude, anyway). I’ve learned that, sometimes, the harshness of the currents is vital to reaching where you need to be.

My Story

From the age of fourteen up to my twentieth year, I had a very poor relationship with food, with my body, and ultimately with my identity. It all began with an innocent attempt to silence others, and my own mind, about my “imperfect” body (yep, I was just a child). I got intertwined in the toxicity of diet culture and exercise onto which the label “fitness” was slapped. All that I knew about food and movement were quickly replaced by fitness myths. Food became the centre-piece of my life and I forgot how to live peacefully in my body, which only grew and grew as a result of puberty and binge eating. I was scared and alone – for six years, not a soul knew what I was going through because I was too ashamed of my state to tell anyone.

The sad truth is that this path I walked which thieved my teenage years, I did not walk alone. Many children – boys and girls – walked and continue to walk down that path, as they become men and women, husbands and wives, who are someone’s brother, someone’s sister, and then someone’s parent. Not everyone receive the right tools and guidance to escape this mental battlefield as the beauty and joys of living suffer for breath.

That’s why…

Since overcoming my messy relationship with food, my body, and realising my identity, I’ve fallen in love with everything that I’ve been missing for years in my life.  I’ve become very ambitious, optimistic, and eager to live completely, even through adversities.  That’s why I have a severe itch to share all I know about things like body image, fitness done the right way, and the importance of giving grace to oneself and others through the rough, which may hopefully raise awareness of the toxicity and pitfalls that are usually associated with fitness media, and to ultimately help someone see a silver lining.

On A Much Brighter Note…

Here are some fun things about me 🙂

  • I have a kitty cat, called “Kitty” (officially). But I have a variety of other names: my sweet Chumkin (chum + pumpkin), Jellyfish, Kitty-boo, Chum-Chum, Jellybean, my sweet lump of sugar (redundant, I know, but I guess she’s just that sweet).
